Shuaibu Isa Lau, the senator for Taraba North, has refuted internet rumors that he switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Lau characterized the rumors as “categorically false” in a statement released on Friday by his Media and Communication Strategies Unit, reaffirming his ongoing membership and active participation in the PDP.
According to the statement, “Senator Lau has been a member of the PDP since his initial election to the Senate in 2017 and remains so to this day.”
It highlighted his political career, including his elections to the 8th, 9th, and current 10th National Assembly under the PDP, and his position as Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate since 2022.
There has been no formal notification or filing with the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, indicating any defection, the senator’s office emphasized.
He cautioned those promoting the rumor to stop but instead rely on confirmed evidence, while advising the public and all media outlets to ignore the untrue accusations.
The senator also reaffirmed his dedication to serving as Taraba North’s representative on the state’s ruling party’s platform.
