A new terrorist gang called Mamudawa has assaulted many settlements in the Shanga region of Kebbi State, killing four people.
The attackers broke into settlements in the Gebbe District of Shanga Local Government Area on Sunday and Monday.
According to a source who spoke to DAILY POST, the attackers were from Wawa Forest in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, and they carried out attacks, burning several buildings in the communities of Kalkami, Tungar Bori, and Kawara.
“The terrorists set fire to Kawara village on Monday,” he said. Bandits, cattle rustlers, and kidnappers demanding ransom payments have been attacking Shanga Local Government Area on a regular basis.
He clarified that it was still unknown how many people had died in the raid, but he said that the bandits had killed roughly four people.
Adamu Hamza Gebbe, the vice chairman of Shanga Local Government Area, confirmed the occurrence to reporters, pointing out that the area had previously been attacked.
Residents of the impacted areas fled after the strikes, according to Alhaji Haruna Usman, the District Head of Gebbe, who confirmed the occurrence
The Mamudawa terrorist gang was responsible for the attacks on Gebbe, Kawara, Kalkami, and neighboring villages in Shanga Local Government Area, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed in a statement.
The assailants used the marsh terrain, according to the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, who emphasized that some of the settlements were set on fire and that lives were sadly lost.
