According to PUNCH SportsExtra, John Obi Mikel has ruled out Cesc Fàbregas as a possible Chelsea manager instead of supporting former teammate Filipe Luís as the greatest choice to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Following Liam Rosenior’s dismissal, Chelsea is looking for a new manager. A number of names have been linked to the position as the team continues to consider options behind the scenes.
Mikel welcomed Fàbregas’s improvement at the Italian team Como in an interview with his Obi One Podcast, but he maintained that the Chelsea position might be too soon for the Spaniard as he continues to gain managerial experience.
“I believe it would be too early for Fabregas. I think it’s a little too early, even though I adore Fabregas and we can all see how successful he is with Como in the Italian league. Give him a few more seasons so he can establish himself and get more expertise.
Despite the Brazilian’s brief tenure as Flamengo’s manager, the former Nigerian captain instead identified Filipe Luís as the most promising candidate among those under consideration.
Mikel emphasized the personality and structure Luís has already ingrained in his team, pointing out in particular their international performances that, in his opinion, exhibit the traits necessary for success at the top level.
