Mokwa flood: Death toll passes 200

More than 200 victim corpses have been found, according to the Niger State Government, following devastating floods that struck the state’s Mokwa Local Government Area.

Ahmad Suleiman, the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, revealed this information on Tuesday’s episode of “The Morning Brief” on Channels Television.

“As of right now, we are still recovering bodies. Since we are still searching for some corpses, no one can tell you how many people have died in Niger State as of yet,” he stated.

As per his statement, the administration of Governor Umar Bago has initiated an emergency reaction and instructed the distribution of aid supplies to the flood victims who are currently residing in temporary camps.

“The Niger State Government has implemented measures, and numerous departments and organizations have contributed. You can’t see the damage on the ground right now on social media unless you go to the locations. Right now, there is a lot of destruction.

Rice trailers have been supplied to the victims by the state government. Yesterday, the governor’s wife also paid a visit to the local government and gave N50 million,” he continued.
