Morocco is still awaiting Ezzalzouli’s fitness before their opening World Cup match against Brazil.

According to a source close to the situation who spoke to AFP on Monday, Morocco winger Abde Ezzalzouli has had tests done on his damaged knee to see if he will be able to play in his team’s World Cup opening match against Brazil.

The Real Betis forward had to be assisted off the field after suffering a right knee injury during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Norway in a pre-tournament friendly.According to the source, “everyone is waiting for Ezzalzouli’s test results to determine the severity of his injury and to know if he’ll recover in time for the World Cup.”

Morocco’s first game takes place in East Rutherford on Saturday against five-time world winners Brazil. In Group C, they will also play Haiti and Scotland.

The source claims that team executives “need to wait 48 hours to know the details of the injury before taking a decision.”

Reports that Ezzalzouli will miss the World Cup completely or be out for three to four weeks, however, were written off as “speculation.”

Morocco is also worried about Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui’s health because he injured his shoulder during the match against Norway.
