Spain beat Peru 3-1 on Monday in their final World Cup warm-up match, giving thousands of fans in Puebla a glimpse of one of the tournament favourites days before the global showpiece begins.
After two minutes, Mikel Oyarzabal opened the score with a powerful strike from the area’s outside. After thirty minutes, Pedro increased the lead by tapping into an empty net after Ferran Torres’ cross.
Early in the second half, Yeremy Pino’s delivery caused Pedro Gallese, the goalkeeper, to make a mistake, giving Spain a third goal. Jairo Velez then pulled one back for Peru with a low finish.
Due to the club’s significant representation in Luis de la Fuente’s team, Spain shirts predominated the stands alongside Barcelona jerseys, demonstrating the stadium’s World Cup passion.
Despite being outnumbered, Peru supporters continued to speak out all night long.
As supporters chanted and performed Mexican waves across the stadium, Pedri, Rodri, and Ferran Torres received some of the biggest applause.
The sidewalks outside were lined with World Cup product vendors, and the celebratory mood was not diminished by strict security measures.
On Thursday, the tournament will begin.
