Popular Nigerian actor and content creator Adebowale Adedayo, better known by his stage name Mr. Macaroni, has addressed criticism regarding his recent public appearance in which he declined to acknowledge Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Mr. Macaroni disputed the criticism in a series of posts on Monday via X, saying that even if given another chance, he would not greet the governor.
“I will not be addressing this issue again. It’s not worth my mental tranquility. I will continue to avoid greeting Governor Sanwo-Olu the next time I see him since you guys won’t stop criticizing me for not doing so. And I won’t answer this time, even if he calls. He wrote, “Today, tomorrow, and forever, you people will cry.”
The social media personality, known for his strong stance on governance and human rights, criticised Nigerians who defend politicians instead of holding them accountable for the economic hardships in the country.
“The populace is in pain! Everything has become more expensive. He said, “You people are too busy kissing your leaders’ bumbum to hold them accountable.”
He also accused certain people of being hypocritical, claiming that some people who criticize government officials later turn to them for financial favors behind closed doors.
Some went behind closed doors to gather envelopes in order to become praise singers after calling out their state governors on a daily basis. When they realize that not everyone is for sale, it saddens them,” he stated.
“These people have no honor, no code, no respect, or dignity whatsoever,” Mr. Macaroni stated in reference to the culture of political devotion. They are now slaves to the people’s servants. Nigeria is the way it is for this reason. The populace supports and worships their oppressors.
Additionally, he dismissed any hopes that he would reverse his position as a result of ongoing criticism of his character.
“I’m not a saint. I am not a hero to anyone. I’m far from flawless. The only reason I do what I do is because I firmly believe in it. Do I grow weary of being attacked on a regular basis? Indeed! However, he wrote, “Please don’t even consider that I will betray my conscience.”
The actor warned against using ethnicity as a means of dividing Nigeria and denounced tribal intolerance in the country’s political scene as he wrapped off his remarks.
It is a disgrace to everyone who has contributed to the development of this poisonous culture of tribal prejudice. Bravo to all Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity, who see past this trickery and keep trying to advance peace and unity,” he remarked.
