Mshelbila Leaves NLNG

After more than four years in charge, Philip Mshelbila, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), will leave the organization on December 31. After that, he will take over as Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, Qatar. To commemorate the conclusion of his term, a symbolic send-off event was recently organized in Abuja. NLNG directors, executives from shareholder businesses, dignitaries from Nigeria’s public sector and energy industry, members of NLNG management, and representatives from various staff groups graced the Abuja ceremony.In the meantime, Engineer Adeleye Falade has been appointed as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer by the NLNG Board of Directors. In April 2026, he will take over. Engineer Falade, who has been the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at Brunei LNG, will be joining NLNG. In his remarks, NLNG’s Deputy Managing Director, Olakunle Osobu, characterized Mshelbila as a man of distinction and an experienced professional with a background in global gas diplomacy, environmental health, medicine, and strategic business leadership.
