Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, has declared that he has never spoken to anyone about leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an interview with the media, the governor claimed that the rumors that he was leaving the party were unfounded and that nothing had actually occurred.
“I haven’t discussed leaving the PDP for the APC with anyone.
“There has been a lot of speculation in the media, but nothing has happened,” Mutfwang stated.
He attributed the rumors to a few organizations pursuing their own objectives.
“Some of them are mistaken, but they mean well,” he continued.
Mutfwang also considered the state’s previous elections.
He charged that electoral rigging was employed by the APC to seize power in the state.
“In 2015, we paused collation at 8 p.m. and planned to continue the next morning. But by 2 a.m., results had already been announced. That tells you everything,” he said.
He promised to remain with the PDP, noting that his political future depends on the will of God and the people of Plateau.
“My political future will be decided by God and the people of Plateau State. Wherever Plateau people go, that’s where we go,” he said.
Mutfwang acknowledged that there were difficulties inside the PDP, particularly in light of the loss of several legislative seats due to court decisions. However, he said that there has been progress as a member of the party’s national reconciliation team.
“I genuinely belong to the PDP. I still am. Additionally, the governor expressed optimism that the PDP crisis will soon come to an end.
