N’Central, S’South, and S’West congresses are postponed by the PDP.

The Peoples Democratic Party has postponed its Congresses for the North-Central, South-South, and South-West Geopolitical Zones, which were originally slated for Saturday, April 12. In a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said the postponement was made to allow governors from the impacted areas to attend the PDP Governors’ Forum in Ibadan on April 13 and to express solidarity with Plateau State over recent deaths. According to Ologunagba, the South-West Zonal Congress has been rescheduled for April 16; the North-Central and South-South congress dates will be released later.N’Central, S’South, and S’West congresses are postponed by the PDP.

Part of the announcement said, “The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee has authorized the postponement of the Party’s Zonal Congress in the North Central, South-South, and South West Zones, which was originally planned for Saturday, April 12, 2025.

In addition to allowing State Governors in the impacted Zones to attend and fully participate in the PDP Governor’s Forum meeting that is set to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, 2025, the Congress has postponed the meeting in solidarity with the Governor and people of Plateau State over the recent killings that have occurred in the state. As a result, the South West Zonal Congress has been rescheduled by the NWC to Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The Party will notify everyone of the new date for the North Central and South-South Zonal Congresses as soon as possible. Accordingly, the NWC accuses the South-South led by Chief Emmanuel Ogidi of Until a new South-South Zonal Executive is chosen, the Zonal Caretaker Committee will continue to supervise the Party’s operations in the Zone in compliance with the PDP’s 2017 revised Constitution. “All leaders, important stakeholders, hordes of PDP members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies, and the general public are urged by the NWC to take note of the postponement and adjust their plans accordingly.”
