Former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, gave credit to Nigeria for providing Britain with Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK Conservative Party, suggesting she is a potential future prime minister.
Johnson made this statement on Thursday at the ongoing Imo Economic Summit in Owerri, the state capital, where he commended the long-standing relationship between the two countries and the mutually beneficial exchange of talented people.
While emphasizing the flow of business and knowledge between Nigeria and the UK, Johnson noted that Britain sends things like pharmaceuticals, bankers, various services, car parts, and large amounts of whisky to Nigeria.
He said that, in exchange, Nigeria sends the UK oil and gas; Nollywood films; excellent doctors and nurses; technicians; and tech experts.
He remarked, “And we send you former United Kingdom prime ministers, and you send us a future United Kingdom prime minister in the form of Kemi Badenoch, who comes from Nigeria and is doing better and better these days.”
His comment is made as discussions within the Conservative Party intensify regarding who might take over if Badenoch were to resign before the next general election.
DAILY POST reported that recent surveys have shown a lack of satisfaction among some parts of the party, leading to doubts about the Tory leader’s long-term future.
