NMA praises Otti for raising doctors’ salaries by 100%.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Umuahia, the state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Ezinwa Ezuruike, expressed the group’s gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for approving the 100% Consolidated Medical Salary Structure for employed doctors in the state. He said that the historic approval announced on April 29 restored long-awaited pay parity for state-employed doctors and that the development demonstrated Otti’s ongoing commitment to bolstering the state’s health sector and enhancing the welfare of its medical professionals.                                                              He said, “The governor has once again shown visionary leadership and a deep appreciation of the sacrifices and critical contributions of healthcare workers by aligning Abia’s medical salary structure with the federal CONMESS.” The NMA also praised the additional approval of the recruitment of 771 new healthcare workers across various professional cadres in the state.

The statement read, “This strategic investment in human resources for health is a bold and timely step towards revitalising our state’s health system.

“As an association, we reaffirm the unwavering commitment of our members to delivering quality healthcare services across the state.

“We see this gesture not just as a fulfilment of a promise but as a call to renewed dedication and excellence in our service to the good people of Abia.”

The group also acknowledged the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Health, Dr Ngozi Azodo, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the achievement.
