Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has found Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), guilty of charges related to being a member of a prohibited terrorist group and encouraging his supporters to commit violence. During the ongoing judgment in Kanu’s terrorism case, Justice Omotosho convicted the IPOB leader on counts three, four, and five of the seven-count charge filed by the Nigerian Government. The judge determined that the prosecution presented sufficient evidence to prove that Kanu was part of the outlawed IPOB and its linked group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Furthermore, the judge held that the prosecution proved that Kanu’s numerous broadcasts incited his followers to violence, leading to the murder of security officials and the destruction of property, including police stations, throughout Nigeria.
