Chief John Okiyi-Kalu (JOK), a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally submitted his nomination form to run for governor of Abia State in 2027.
After passing the party’s governorship screening committee, which was presided over by former Kaduna State governor Ahmed Makarfi, Okiyi-Kalu turned in the application.
The former commissioner told reporters following the procedure that the screening was successful and went smoothly, reflecting the standards of a “great party” like the PDP.
He claimed that his goal was to use industrialization, better healthcare, education, and worker welfare to bring “prosperity people can see and feel” throughout Abia.
He declared, “It is an honor for me to run under a party I trust so much and have been a part of since 1999 without defecting despite trials and temptations.”
