POLITICS2027: Bala decrees candidates above 55 to be ineligible for ADCPublished on April 10, 2026 by Vanessa Onah
Nafiu Bala Gombe, the factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that anyone above 55 will not be allowed to run for office.
Gombe revealed the information in an interview with BBC Hausa, where he presented a vision focused on increased young involvement in politics and generational transformation.
All Nigerians are members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). We are now working to make sure the celebration proceeds appropriately. We’ve made the decision to provide the young people a genuine opportunity. The time has arrived for youth to assume leadership roles in politics.
“You will not run for posts in the ADC under our leadership if you are older than 55.
“We want to bring in young people’s energy, new ideas, and fresh blood. The younger generation will determine Nigeria’s destiny.
“The nation has not benefited from the old methods. “We must make it possible for young people to fully engage as leaders, candidates, and decision-makers,” he stated.
