As the summer transfer window draws near, former Super Eagles midfielder Osaze Odemwingie has cautioned Victor Osimhen from joining Manchester United, claiming the pressure on strikers at Old Trafford is too detrimental to take.
Odemwingie, a former player for West Bromwich Albions, Cardiff City, and Stoke City in the Premier League, stated that United’s size and expectations made it a risky place for any forward.
“I didn’t expressly bring up Manchester United because there is a serious issue there. Strikers are under tremendous strain. You must avoid that. He told Brila FM, “We have seen this with Romelu Lukaku and many other strikers—they will always find a scapegoat because the club is so big and demands results.”
The former winger stated that the Galatasaray striker, whose future continues to dominate transfer rumors ahead of the summer window, would be better suited to Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
Odemwingie added that Osimhen’s physical attributes made him well-suited to the demands of European football’s biggest stages.
“Wherever he goes, he can move the ball beautifully and demand possession. He is also good in aerial duels. Real Madrid’s pitch is wide and very suitable for his runs. He has a height advantage, and he runs well,” he said
He advised Osimhen to follow his own goals rather than those of others and to make his move at the height of his career.
Osimhen is presently on loan at Galatasaray, where he has contributed three assists and seven goals in ten UEFA Champions League games in addition to 13 goals and five assists in 21 league games this season.
Osimhen voiced optimism that the Turkish team will win the championship at home against Antalyaspor, but they just lost to Samsunspor 4-1, missing a chance to win the Süper Lig.
He advised Osimhen to follow his own goals rather than those of others and to make his move at the height of his career.
