The top nominees for the 12th Nigeria Pitch Awards include Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, and Ademola Lookman. The list was formally released in Abuja. Lookman of Atalanta B.C., Bassey of Fulham F.C., and Osimhen of Galatasaray S.K. dominate a number of important categories, highlighting their exceptional club and national performances in the previous year. Award partners, College of Voters members, and journalists gathered at the Johnwood Hotel for the announcement of the nominations.Dr. Ademola Olajire, Director of Media and Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), reaffirmed the Federation’s support for the Nigeria Pitch Awards and described the procedure as credible and transparent. Defending champion Ademola Lookman will compete against Calvin Bassey and Victor Osimhen in the much awaited King of the Pitch category. Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiamaka Nnadozie make up a formidable trio for the Queen of the Pitch Award. Other very competitive categories include Midfielder of the Year, which pits Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Wilfred Ndidi against each other, and Defender of the Year, which pits rising star Benjamin Frederick against Bassey and Ola Aina.
