A pastor and his wife were successfully freed from a kidnapper’s cave in Faggem village, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, by troops of Operation Enduring Peace, or OPEP.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Captain Polycarp Oteh, the pastor and his spouse were kidnapped on Friday, June 5, 2026, along with other victims. However, the victims suffered some injuries while in captivity, but they were freed after the troops acted quickly.
Captain Oteh stated in the statement, “Troops of Sector 5 operating in Bokkos, recorded another victory against criminality in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.”
On June 5, 2026, troops responded to an urgent distress call from Faggem Village. They quickly mobilized and stopped an ongoing kidnapping attempt, forcing the criminals to retreat into a neighboring forest and abandon their hostages.

The OPEP spokesperson stated, “The troops immediately evacuated the couple, who were injured during the initial assault by the criminals, to Bokkos medical clinic for treatment, while also initiating a manhunt to track down the fleeing suspects.”
Eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition were found at the spot during a check of the hideout, he continued, and the military promptly launched a rescue operation into the nearby forest.He assured the general public that the troops would not relent in their ongoing efforts and decisive operations to rid the highways and communities of criminal elements
