PDP identifies the causes of kidnapping and banditry.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a renewed warning about what it terms a rapidly expanding and dangerous criminal economy that powers banditry and kidnapping across the country.
The party cautioned that insecurity has become a highly organized business and urged the Federal Government to stop politicizing national security.
This was stated by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, on Wednesday during the AIT program ‘Democracy Today’, where he argued that the government’s current approach is worsening the problem.
He claimed that current national data indicates that banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism have grown into “a trillion Naira economy,” showing the problem is far more complex than the government acknowledges.
Ememobong condemned the practice of publicly pleading with kidnappers and bandits to release victims, calling it a weak strategy that strengthens criminal elements.
He instead urged the Federal Government to issue a clear and firm directive to immediately stop all violent attacks nationwide.
He further accused government officials of indirectly validating criminality by engaging in discussions with armed groups, stressing that such actions send a negative message to citizens, especially in a nation where civilians are banned from carrying arms.
In his view, it signifies a collapse of authority when individuals illegally carrying weapons can negotiate with state officials.
