Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has expressed sorrow for the death of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai.
Obi expressed his condolences on his official X Twitter, calling the former Nigerian goalie’s passing regrettable and adding that he gave his best for the nation when he was playing.
He claimed that during his playing career, Rufai provided many football-loving Nigerians with memorable moments.
The former governor of Anambra State prayed for his soul to rest in peace and requested God to give his family the strength to deal with the loss.
“May his legacy inspire future generations and may his soul rest in eternal peace.” Our Dodo Mayana, Peter Rufai, may you rest in peace,” Obi remarked.
According to the DAILY POST, Rufai passed away in Lagos on Thursday at the age of 61 after a medical condition.
