The recently established Imo State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP) has rejected the Federal High Court in Gusau, Zamfara state’s alleged nullification of the party’s national congresses.

According to the report, all congresses held and overseen by the APP’s national office, chaired by Barrister Uchenna Nnadi, were declared invalid by the court presided over by Justice Hamza Mohamed. This has implications for the LMO state chapter.

On Sunday, April 2026, the Imo state branch of the party held a congress with other federation states, producing Hon. Ernest Njesi as the state chairman and other officers. In a statement released on Wednesday night, the party’s state publicity secretary, Ambassador Steve Nnadi, said that no court in Zamfara state has issued a judgment or exparte order. He said it was crucial to make clear that no court had deregistered APP or invalidated APP congresses across the country, including the Imo state chapter. The All Progressive Congress, the APC-led administration of Imo State, is responsible for the fake news, which the public and members of the Imo APP should ignore. “It is, in fact, a cacophony and blabbering of an outgoing failing government that should not be taken seriously in its whole. In light of this, he stated, “Let it be clear that the federal high court in Zamfara state lacks jurisdiction to entertain such an exparte motion brought by a faceless Kelechi Anyanwu unknown to the party.”
