Governor Inuwa Yahaya has supported Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the APC’s consensus candidate for governor of Gombe State in the 2027 election, preventing Senator Danjuma Goje from receiving a second Senate ticket.
At a stakeholders’ meeting, the decision was made public. This follows a protracted political dispute between Goje and the governor that began with the 2023 elections.
Goje, a four-term senator running for reelection, recently met with President Bola Tinubu as a member of a Senate delegation to request automatic tickets for parliamentarians; however, the request was apparently denied.
A list of consensus candidates for various positions was also made public by the party. Jerry Damara will run for Gombe South, Mohammed Ahmadu Deba for Gombe Central, and Inuwa Yahaya for Gombe North.
Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Ali Isa (Balanga/Billiri), Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Saddam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada) are among the candidates running for the House of Representatives.
Remember that the consensus has subsequently been repudiated by Sheikh Isa Pantami, a former minister and candidate for governor.As the APC prepares to back those selected to run for various Gombe offices, more responses are anticipated.
