POS Vendors Resist CAC’s January 1st Deadline for Prohibiting Unregistered Operators

The Corporate Affairs Commission’s recent announcement that unregistered operators will be prohibited starting on January 1, 2026, has alarmed Point of Sale (POS) operators. According to Daily Trust, the CAC stated in a public notice on Saturday that several unregistered PoS machines have entered the nation’s financial system and are being used to commit crimes. The operators who run other businesses in addition to providing banking agency services like cash withdrawals and deposits have insisted on using their single business registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to cover all of their operations, according to Daily Trust. They stated that their general business names already included the service and that there was no need to register their POS firms separately with the CAC.
