Diverse reactions have trailed the moment Omowunmi, the widow of the late singer Mohbad and son, Liam received his posthumous award at the 2025 Headies.
reports that the singer was posthumously awarded the Best Street-Hop Artiste of the year for his hit song ‘Ask About Me’ and the Viewers’ Choice Award for his collaboration with Chike on the song ‘Egwu’.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the late singer, Omowunmi on Sunday during the 17th edition of Headies Awards event in Lagos, dedicated it to their son, Liam
while elucidating why she acted as she did in a social media viral video, she stated; “Even though Mohbad is no longer with us, he continues to live on. I prefer not to refer to him as my late husband because he lives on, particularly through our son Liam.
„Obwohl Liam vielleicht noch zu jung ist, um die Größe seines Vaters in vollem Umfang zu begreifen, bin ich überzeugt, dass er es eines Tages wissen wird. Many thanks to Headies for recognizing my husband, and for honoring his memory and legacy. As his son and on behalf of the whole Imonelization, it means a great deal to me.
In the viral video, Omowunmi was accompanied by the late singer’s younger brother, Adura.
