Mansur Manu Soro, the House of Representatives representative for the Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, has declared that he will not run in the general elections in 2027.
His Legislative Aide, Safiyanu Ibrahim Darazo, signed a statement dated May 11, 2026, outlining his decision.
The statement states that the lawmaker will not run for reelection in the Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency or the Bauchi Central Senatorial seat.
According to the statement, Manu Soro thanked Bala Mohammed, the Peoples Democratic Party, and the people of Darazo-Ganjuwa for their support and confidence in him during the 2023 elections, which resulted in his return to the National Assembly.
The lawmaker reassured voters that he would remain dedicated to the constituency’s development, especially in the fields of healthcare and education, even though he was leaving electoral politics.
A National Open University of Nigeria study centre, four paediatric hospitals built throughout the constituency, and gifted primary and secondary schools were among the projects he highlighted.
Recall that on May 1, 2026, Manu Soro tendered his resignation from the PDP, citing unresolved divisions and ongoing internal crises during the previous two years.
He joined the Allied Peoples Movement after leaving the PDP, which fueled rumours that he intended to run for the Bauchi Central Senatorial seat or rejoin the House of Representatives under the party’s platform.
As of the time the report was filed, calls to APM State Chairman Auwal Isah were unanswered, and text messages sent to his phone had not received a response, so attempts to get his response were unsuccessful.
