Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, a senator from Nasarawa West Senatorial District, has urged state residents to put aside their ethnic and religious beliefs and choose leaders based on their qualifications.
After completing the third and last leg of his consultative tour through the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, the candidate for governor made the statement.
Additionally, Wadada used the occasion to introduce his “HEARTS Agenda” and legislative scorecard to residents of the 11 Akwanga Local Government Area electoral wards.
Abdulahi Sule, the state’s governor, has endorsed Wadada, who promised the assembly that if elected, he would not only maintain but also advance the progress made by the current governor.
In a statement given to reporters on Sunday, Wadada, who had previously honoured the Chun Mada, HRH Samson Gamu Yare, at his palace, said that Governor Sule, who has endorsed him as his preferred successor, was symbolically giving him “gold, silver, and diamond” on behalf of the Akwanga Zone, and that he must return the favour by providing fair development to all zones of the state.
Ahead of the general elections in 2027, Wadada emphasised the importance of harmony and peaceful cohabitation, urging the populace to put aside ethno-religious feelings and choose leaders based on qualifications.
He cautioned that electing incompetent people to legislative positions would disadvantage the zone and result in a “bench warmer” serving as their representative.
The lawmaker, who described the departing governor as a servant-leader who has maintained faith with the people, also voiced strong support for Governor Sule’s desire to represent the region in the Senate.
