The legendary Wayne Rooney of Manchester United has voiced his criticism of Arsenal’s celebrations after their Champions League semi-final victory over Atletico Madrid.
Thanks to a late first-half goal by Bukayo Saka during the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 on aggregate and advanced to the tournament final.
The match’s first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Spain. Arsenal will now play the victor of the next second leg between PSG and Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The Arsenal squad continued to celebrate in front of their elated supporters for a considerable amount of time after the final whistle, sparking joyous celebrations throughout the Emirates.
The festivities were immediately criticized by several rival supporters, and Rooney even said that they seemed a little extravagant.
Rooney, who won the Champions League with United in 2008, told Prime Video, “They haven’t won it yet,” in reaction to the happenings at the Emirates Stadium.
“I think the festivities are a little too dramatic. Celebrate your victories, but they deserve it.
