Senate: The Reasons Behind Our Discretionary Electronic Transmission of Election Results

As part of the ongoing reform of our nation’s electoral governance structure, the Senate has stated that it was guided by empirical facts when it decided to make the electronic transmission of election results optional rather than required. In a statement issued on Sunday by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele explained the stance. The Senate, he argued, “cannot discharge such responsibilities to the detriment of the citizenry, as lawmaking comes with huge obligations globally.”
