Shehu Sani, a former Senator for Kaduna Central, commented that some individuals who were protesting under the banner of “End Bad Governance” were wrongfully apprehended. Sani conveyed this perspective in a statement posted on his verified X account on Friday, emphasizing that security forces had imprisoned some of these protesters, using them as scapegoats. He praised the recent acquittal of several of these individuals by the Federal High Court as a positive outcome, calling it a victory for justice. He recalled having visited some of the accused individuals while they were detained in Kuje prison during their difficult period. Sani reiterated that many had been arrested and jailed without cause by the security agencies who were looking for people to blame. He gave examples, noting that one detainee was an AC and refrigerator technician who was entirely unaware of the protest activities. Another individual, named Bashir, was falsely accused of receiving millions of dollars, despite having only N2,000 in his bank account. Finally, Sani offered congratulations to Deji and the rest of the legal team for their work.
