Six of the thirteen members who were previously prohibited from engaging in legislative duties have formally been released from their suspension by the Benue State House of Assembly.
According to information obtained by DAILY POST, the judgment came after the six MPs submitted an appeal and an apologetic letter to the House.
Honorable Simon Gabo, Honorable Elias Audu, Honorable Solomon Gyila, Honorable William Ortyom, Honorable Blessed Onah, and Honorable Anyor Mato are the members who have been reinstated.
They were among the thirteen lawmakers that were suspended for not supporting the dismissal of Justice Maurice Ikpambese, the state chief judge.
The MPs had called the Chief Judge’s dismissal “unconstitutional” and a breach of the separation of powers and fair hearing norms.
The House decided by voice vote during Tuesday’s plenary that the remaining seven suspended members would not be recalled unless they formally appealed to the House.
