The most recent teams to advance to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final 16 are Morocco and Mali. Following the conclusion of Group A matches, the two nations qualified on Monday night. In Rabat, the hosts defeated Zambia 3-0 thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi (brace). Despite a 0-0 tie with Comoros in Casablanca, Mali also secured their spot in the next round. Mali is the runner-up while Morocco is the group winner. They will be among the four teams who have advanced to the Round of 16, along with Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, and Egypt. The dates of the Round of 16 games are January 3–6, 2026.
