Soldiers and police officers physically clash in Plateau State.

A physical clash involving at least two soldiers and two police officers occurred at the GSM center in the Hamaz area of a popular market in Jos, Plateau State, causing tension among residents and traders. The incident reportedly began over a disagreement between a soldier and a roadside phone dealer who allegedly damaged the soldier’s phone instead of repairing it.
According to eyewitness accounts shared on social media, the situation escalated when the soldier attempted to arrest the trader, and a policeman intervened, suggesting the matter be taken to a police station. The soldier then called his colleagues, who arrived in a Hilux vehicle, allegedly beat up the policeman, wounded him, and seized his gun. Police operatives were reportedly withdrawn from the area afterward, and traders sought the presence of other security agents.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the altercation, which took place on December 1, 2025. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Alabo Alfred, confirmed that the “disgraceful act” was investigated, and the security personnel involved from both agencies have been sanctioned accordingly. He assured residents that the misunderstanding had been properly addressed and measures put in place to prevent any recurrence.
