Sources: Terrorists’ Raid Kills 8 Soldiers

Three security sources told AFP on Wednesday that eight Nigerian soldiers were killed and twenty-three others were injured in a raid on a military base in Borno State by jihadists with ties to IS. According to security officials, a violent gunfight broke out after about 70 motorcycle-borne fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) organization stormed a base in Cross Kauwa village.Regarding Monday’s attack, a military officer stated, “Soldiers paid the ultimate price, and 23 others were injured.” The militants took a long detour to attack the base after mobilizing from a camp on Dabar Masara island in Lake Chad, according to two sources in the military-supporting anti-jihadist militia.
