A carbon monoxide leak at a mining site in Kampani Zurak village, Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State, has resulted in the verified deaths of at least 38 miners. The miners were going about their daily business underground when the catastrophe happened early on Wednesday.Over 10 people are still listed as missing as rescue attempts continue, and over 20 others suffered various injuries and were sent to various hospitals for treatment. According to locals and witnesses, the tragedy occurred at around 6:30 a.m., just after the victims had returned to the mining site and said their morning prayers.
