Jamie Carragher, a veteran of Liverpool, has explained why Barcelona won’t take home the UEFA Champions League title this year. Remember how Barcelona thrashed Olympiakos 6-1 at home on Tuesday? Marcus Rashford, Fermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal were among the players who scored the goals. Last season, Hansi Flick’s team advanced to the Champions League semifinals before losing to Inter Milan. However, Carragher has recently stated that Barcelona’s defense is insufficient, ruling out their prospects of winning the Champions League. Carragher told CBS Sports, “They [Barcelona] lost [the Champions League semi-final last season] through naivety, really, maybe having a lot of young players.”Considering the back four who participated in tonight’s match—Kounde, Cubarsi, Garcia, and Balde—I doubt that they can win the Champions League. Playing with a high line isn’t the only thing that causes them issues. You always get the impression that the opponent has a chance when you watch them. It goes beyond their tactical setup. When they face a true elite squad like Arsenal, PSG, or Bayern Munich, I’m not entirely sure the defenders are up to par.
