Some youngsters in Kano State stop people on the road to seek for free rides to school, which has alarmed Alhaji Dalhatu Salisu Mai Jumuri, the chairman of the state’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).
He called the behavior unsafe and harmful for the kids in an interview with a local media source.
“Seeing a uniformed student standing by the side of the road, halting cars and pleading with strangers for a lift is really depressing. This is dangerous and needs to end,” he stated. According to Alhaji Mai Jumuri, the PTA is collaborating with the Kano State Government to supply buses that will transport both male and female pupils.
He stated, “Insha Allah, the government will soon provide buses to transport boys to school, just as they do for the girls.”
Additionally, he stated that a special committee has been established to keep an eye on children who participate in this dangerous behavior.
In order to take the appropriate action, the committee will note their names, schools, and classes.
“I’m urging guardians and parents to assume all accountability for their kids. He cautioned that if we ignore this issue, it may worsen in the future.
Additionally, he urged the public to back initiatives aimed at safeguarding kids and facilitating their safe transportation to school.
