Alhaji Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, has formally declared his decision to run for the office of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Lamido communicated his intention via a post on his official Facebook page on Monday. He indicated that he would visit the PDP national headquarters, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, later that day to acquire his nomination form.
His post read: “By the grace of God, I shall today, Monday, 27th October 2025, by 11 a.m., be at Wadata Plaza, the National Headquarters of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to purchase the nomination form to run for the office of National Chairman.”
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and a founding member of the PDP expressed assurance in his capacity to strengthen and reconstruct the party, adding, “My commitment to democracy and resolve to restore our dear party to its old glory is unstoppable.”
Lamido, who is a strong advocate for internal unity and democracy within the PDP, stated that his aspiration is motivated by the necessity to prepare the party effectively for upcoming elections. The PDP, which was Nigeria’s ruling party from 1999 to 2015, is scheduled to choose its new National Chairman at its forthcoming national convention.
