Nigeria, who won silver in 2018, will compete in Group B of the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Zanzibar Island. This island is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania and is situated off the coast of East Africa.
The island, which has a population of under two million, will host elite continental football as part of a wider initiative in East Africa
Nigeria is placed in Group B with the defending champions Senegal, as well as Congo and Sudan. After Equatorial Guinea was disqualified by the CAF Appeals Committee, Congo was reinstated in the group.
Set to take place from 2nd to 30th August this year, the CHAN will be a vital preparatory event for East African countries Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, who are collaborating to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
