Arthur Okonkwo, the goalkeeper for Wrexham, has been cleared by FIFA, the Federation of International Football Association, to play for the Super Eagles.
Okonkwo is qualified to represent both Nigeria and England because he was born to Nigerian parents.
The former goalie for Arsenal used to play for England at the youth level.
On Tuesday, the FIFA portal for international player transfers formally updated the 24-year-old’s new eligibility.
It is currently anticipated that Okonkwo would have an opportunity to play for the Super Eagles in their May friendlies against Jamaica and India.
In June, the Super Eagles will play two additional friendlies against Portugal and Poland.
