Mkpisong Frank Archibong, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Akwa Ibom State, has called on traditional leaders to support the ongoing voter registration drive in their communities by motivating their citizens to take advantage of the opportunity.

In order to build on the progress made by the current administration in terms of development, the commissioner also urged the royal fathers to keep supporting Governor Umo Eno’s Arise agenda.
According to him, traditional institutions are the cornerstone of social stability and are essential for maintaining law and order and creating an atmosphere that allows government policies to flourish for the good of all citizens.
The Commissioner, who reflected on his own experience as a former Chairman of the Council, recognized the difficulties and unwavering service of traditional rulers and conveyed his sincere appreciation for their unwavering support.
In order to honor the traditional institution, the Commissioner also emphasized the September 23rd state anniversary celebrations. He presented it as evidence of the government’s regard for the royalty and urged their complete cooperation to make sure it was successful.
Citing specific cases of people using the internet to insult the governor and one in which a masquerade physically harmed a citizen, Archibong also denounced the recent misuse of tradition and culture.
While the government values and supports culture, the Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner made it clear that it will not stand for it to be twisted into a means of intimidation and violence.
