French football authorities punished the Paris Saint-Germain women’s team on Monday with a three-defeats-by-forfeit penalty due to a licensing issue concerning Florianne Jourde’s summer signing. The French Football Federation (FFF) sanctioned Fleury to a defeat by forfeit after they complained about their 4-0 loss to PSG in the top-flight Premiere Ligue last month. This sentence was extended to cover the club’s two prior games, a 2-0 victory over Le Havre and a 1-0 victory over Strasbourg. PSG drops from second to fifth place in the rankings after essentially losing nine points. The club declared their intention to file an appeal in a statement, calling the ruling “totally disproportionate.”
