Following the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in last Saturday’s bye-elections, the Presidency has made fun of opposition leaders Peter Obi, a former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
On Monday morning, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, posted a picture of Atiku, Peter Obi, and other ADC members on his X account along with the question, “How is the market now?”
He made no mention of names, but it was obvious that he was referring to the opposition in the recently held election.
Following the general elections in 2023, the elections were held to replace lawmakers who had passed away or resigned.
Twelve of the sixteen bye-election seats that were held in August 2025 were won by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Keep in mind that elections were held in 12 states, though some reports list 13—including Zamfara, where the results were unclear.APC won 12 seats, followed by APGA 2, PDP 1, and NNPP 1, according to BASEMEDIA NEWS. It was decided that the Zamfara seat was inconclusive.
