Raymond Domenech, the former France international, has predicted that Achraf Hakimi, the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain, will defeat Ousmane Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
He claimed that the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain is more deserving of the honor than Vitinha and Ousmane Dembele, two of his teammates.
He saw that throughout the season, the right-back was increasingly reliable for the team.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony at Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet was announced on September 22 by the event’s organizers, France Football.
Hakimi, Vitinha, and Dembele are all on the 30-man shortlist of players they have revealed for the prize.
Other strong candidates on the list include the Barcelona team of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
But Domenech thinks Hakimi ought to receive the honor.
Over the weekend, he told La Gazzetta dello Sport, “Let’s add some spice: Hakimi.” Dembélé deserves it, no doubt, but the match versus City was the only thing that woke him up in January.
In contrast, Hakimi had a strong season. Additionally, he scored crucial goals in the Champions League quarterfinal, semifinal, and final while playing defense. This is what Dembélé failed to do.
Hakimi and Dembele both contributed to the French Ligue 1 team winning the UEFA Super Cup, the domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League.
