Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara, who was sentenced to death by hanging on December 15, 2022, by a Kano court for blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam, has been transferred from the Kano Correctional Center to Abuja.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, confirmed the move, stating it is a “routine administrative procedure” conducted under federal jurisdiction.
The NCoS clarified that the transfer was executed in line with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019, which authorizes the movement of inmates between facilities for purposes including security, effective management, and rehabilitation. The Command assured the public that the transfer does not affect Kabara’s legal status, right to appeal, or access to his legal counsel.
