Former Senator for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has urged the Federal Government to prioritize recruiting military and police personnel and deploying them to their respective states of origin to combat terrorism and banditry.
In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, Sani argued that deploying security personnel to their native states is the most effective strategy because they possess superior knowledge of the local terrain compared to personnel from other states.
His suggestion comes amid Nigeria’s severe security challenges, marked by widespread abductions. Sani stressed that personnel should be recruited from regions with the highest insecurity, then trained, equipped, and sent back to their home states to fight criminals.
