Victor Osimhen, a striker for Galatasaray, has asked the public to ignore any rumors about his future with the team after remarks made by Eric Chelle, the head coach of Nigeria, implied that he would be nearing completion of a transfer away from the Turkish Super Lig champions this summer.
While explaining Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly against Poland and Portugal in June, Chelle sparked more speculation about his next destination.
The Malian disclosed that Osimhen asked to be excluded from the team in order to concentrate on a possible transfer.
Victor Osimhen might be poised to switch teams, so we are missing two players,” Chelle stated.
But last night, Osimhen revealed on his Instagram Story that he had had a direct conversation with Chelle to get clarification.
“I just finished speaking with Coach Eric Chelle about what he said about me in his most recent interview.
Sadly, his remarks have been exaggerated and taken out of context. He is really respectful.
“I look forward to working with him going forward, and I appreciate the conversation and the chance to always represent my country.” He is an excellent instructor who I much admire, and I respectfully request that everyone ignore the rumors that surround this issue.
