PDP member Dickson Iroegbu accused Nigeria’s leadership of political maneuvering in response to President Donald Trump’s threat of military action over Christian killings. Speaking on Arise Television, Iroegbu expressed disappointment with the Nigerian government’s counter-narratives, which suggest that the killings are not exclusively targeted at Christians. He stressed that the core issue is the alarming rate of Nigerian deaths and claimed that President Tinubu’s actions demonstrate a lack of empathy for the unwarranted fatalities. This accusation followed Trump’s statement that he had instructed the Department of Defense to prepare for military intervention if Nigeria continues to permit the killing of Christians, referencing Trump’s earlier designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
