On Wednesday, November 26, the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership for 2025–2026 will formally commence. Twenty elite teams will start their pursuit of victory. With ten games spread across two groups, the opening day promises to be an exciting start as teams try to gain early momentum in a season full of new players, rekindled rivalries, and tactical improvements. The South-South derby between the reigning champions Bayelsa Queens and the 2023–24 winners Edo Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa is the most eagerly awaited match of the opening day.
