Barcelona formally complained to UEFA on Thursday over the officiating and VAR calls made during Wednesday’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid.
Remember that Atletico Madrid prevailed in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match at Camp Nou?
A number of supposedly contentious decisions were made during the match, including in the 54th minute when Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso gave the ball to defender Marc Pubill inside their own penalty box. Hansi Flick’s team was handed a card for defender Pau Cubarsi.
Pubill took up the ball in their area after the play was properly restarted, but the referee did not impose a penalty.
The Blaugrana, however, believes that the refereeing violated the present law, which had a direct impact on the outcome and the course of the game.
