UCL: Bayern star Stanisic criticizes officials for Camavinga’s red card, saying they’ve lost it.

Josip Stanisic, a player for Bayern Munich, has criticized referee Slavko Vincic for dismissing Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid during their UEFA Champions League match.

His comments followed Bayern’s 4-3 victory against Los Blancos in the quarterfinals’ second leg on April 15.

In order to have a good impact on the game, Alvaro Arbeloa chose to change Eduardo Camavinga in the 62nd minute when Madrid was ahead 3-2.

But soon after, Camavinga was given an unjustified yellow card for a careless tackle.

After a free-kick was given against him, he decided to keep possession of the ball, which resulted in a second yellow card and his dismissal in the 86th minute for time-wasting.

After being down to ten players, Bayern Munich took advantage of the situation. Luis Diaz and Michael Olise both scored goals, giving the hosts a 6-4 aggregate victory.

“I don’t believe the referee was aware that he had already issued a yellow card to Camavinga,” Stanisic told MadridZone, criticizing the referee for sending Camavinga off.

He wouldn’t have displayed the second yellow if he had known. Referees appear to have partially lost their ability to oversee important games.

Eduardo Camavinga was also sent off following Real Madrid’s 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal last season (April 8, 2025).

Los Blancos therefore lost 5-1 on aggregate and were eliminated.
